Science Operations

At the center of LabCentral's mission and focus is advancing life sciences innovation in the service of human health. LabCentral's newly expanded Science Operations team works diligently to provide best-in-class equipment and service offerings while companies reside within our space, and prepares teams to have the knowledge and connections for success when they're ready to grow beyond.

In 2022, LabCentral's Science Operations team responded to the needs of our community to expand our equipment offerings, further developed best practices for sustainability and facilities management, and convened scientific leaders to share challenges and ideate collectively.

EQUIPMENT & ONSITE CAPABILITIES

“Moving was made easy knowing what equipment to buy since we were familiar with what we used at LabCentral. We were able to equip our new space in no time. In addition, being at LabCentral made it easier for us to communicate with suppliers, and company representatives that helped with product selections”.

-- Khatuna Gagnidze Senior Scientist at Summation Bio.

Imaging capabilities have doubled with the acquisition of Zeiss instruments “CD7 and AxiosScan”.

Advancing residents beyond our physical space

To empower innovation beyond our sites, we connect resident companies with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and Core Facilities for instruments and services not offered at LabCentral. In the past year, LabCentral helped 18 companies with service requests and have directly connected four residents with CROs and Core Facilities.

In 2022, we instituted Science Operations Office Hours to help us identify equipment and technologies to bring to LabCentral that will help the community as a whole. We are currently discussing with two new potential sponsors equipped with the technology asked for by residents.

"From Scientist to Leader: A personal journey"

We held our first Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) Round Table with a stellar panel discussion followed by a lively networking event. 15 company leaders were present with 3 panelists, one current LabCentral CSO and two Alumni CSOs.
